Dan Poljšak:
I have always liked wooden classic sailing boats. When I was 12 years old my father and I restored the old body of an Elan sailing boat and changed it into a two-cutter that I named Schkrgha.
In that period I competed in the Optimist class and I wanted a bigger sailing boat so that I could invite my friends to sailing trips. I drew plans and when my friends donated me the body of the old Elan boat I started working on it in the backyard of my home in Škofja Loka. A TV crew recorded my story and made a short film with the title “Dan Poljšak – “A Young Innovator”.
I and my friends sailed a lot with “Schkrgha” practising maritime skills and learning how to work in a team. With “Schkrgha” I also took part in old barques regattas in the gulf of Piran as the youngest participant.
